Dada (2005)
The second solo project created by one half of The Starving Artists. Escher’s ‘subliminal genius’ was an alias created after enduring life in the working class. Receiving paychecks instead of grades forced The Starving Artists’ MC Escher to reevaluate his ideas about the world he lived in. This LP showcases a wide range of styles, and documents different points in Escher’s life over the past decade.
The album displays battles with excessive partying, love, and a spiritual awakening. Written, produced, and performed by Escher throughout a Providence, RI neighborhood called Oakland Zoo, this album picks up where “3” left off and finishes with an optimistic view of what is yet to come.
Several guest MCs commited to a few collaboration tracks. Various musicians also supplied equiptment such as guitars, keyboards, and effects pedals. Even though a solo album, many people dedicated their time in creating the final product.
